BARIA SERECE is a French-Norwegian-Vietnamese joint venture set to build and operate the first private port in Vietnam, in Phu My in the South of the country.

The Company started its commercial operations in September 1996, with a wide range of activities: handling of bulk, breakbulk and liquid commodities, transport, customs clearance, storage and bagging. In 2000, 1 million tons of cargo have been handled at the facility. The Port enjoys a favorable position on the deep Thi Vai River, only 17 miles from the open sea (Vung Tau Pilot Station) and 70 km only from Ho Chi Minh-City, the major industrial and business center of the country.

Baria Serece is a viable alternative as compared to the 48 miles of channel navigation for accessing to Saigon Ports.

Motorways easily connect Baria Serece with the growing Industrial Zones of Dong Nai and Ba Ria Vung Tau Provinces. Most of the Mekong Delta can be reached from the Port by barges and coasters. The recent addition of on-site bonded warehouses combined with its natural deep nautical access, convenient location and skilled workforce makes Baria Serece an ideal distribution center in South East Asia.

OVERVIEW
Baria Serece is a multi-purpose facility handling dry bulk and break bulk commodities. Unique in the country, the Port handles vessels with a draft of up to 40 ft. (12 meters) with a displacement of over 60,000 DWT. Baria Serece's deep water facility is favored among the handy-max and Panamax operators, because no lightering is needed prior arrival. For vessels en-route to China, Japan or Korea, calling Baria Serece is a minor deviation in term of distance and time, thus creating potential gains for shippers and operators.

The Port has a 300m long 'T'-shaped jetty (345 m with dolphins) with two berths on the outside and two on the inside, totaling 575m of quay. Barging activities are carried out on two additional river piers, both independent from the main pier. A set of buoys for transhipment from vessel onto barge and vice versa is available, mainly for rice trade. Versatility is a key point as most operations are performed simultaneously.

WAREHOUSE/CARGO
Baria Serece has been licensed in 2000 to operate bonded warehouses, a key service for companies trading with Vietnam.
Any commodity can be stored "bonded". Please contact us for more details.

The port has over 8,200 sqm of enclosed warehouses, of which 3,200 sqm are bonded. 30,700 sqm (of which 15,000 sqm are bonded) of concrete yard complete the storage offer. Mid-2001, a first bulk warehouse with a storage capacity of 35,000 tons will become available. It will be equipped with a bagging station (50kg) with two lines, later upgradable to four lines.
The site has been designed to support a maximum pressure of 5 t/sqm, allowing the Port to play a major role in heavy-lift transhipments.

Breakbulk Cargo Handled:
steel products (billets, coils, construction steel..), rolling equipment (trucks, coaches, construction devicesÉ) and other cargo like wood-pulp, pipes, containers and bagged cargo.
